VASS Technology
The industry is growing and technology is advancing. At McKinney Prosthetics your needs are our focus by being educated in the latest technology with certifications as well as pioneering technology for the future!

As one of the first few people to experiment with elevated vacuum suspension, Ray McKinney has now become known as an expert in the industry regarding elevated vacuum. The science of the Vacuum Assisted Socket System Technology (VASS) manages the volume relationship between the prosthetic socket and the residual limb. Vacuum technology - greater than 15 in Hg - helps maintain consistent volume in the limb all day long.

Volume loss in the residual limb is a common side effect for prosthetic-wearing amputees that can lead to inconsistent fit, frequent prosthetic adjustments, tissue breakdown creating ulcers and abrasions, and premature wear on the prosthetic interface.

With certain materials and methods used, vacuum technology manages these common problems by:
• Equalizing pressures within the socket
• Vaporizing perspiration within the socket.
• Maintaining a balanced volume in the residual limb, which minimizes movement of the limb within the socket.
• Enhancing connection between limb and the prosthesis for improved proprioception.
• Reducing friction between the limb and the liner and between the liner and the socket, which prevents tissue breakdown and extends the life of the prosthetic interface.

With patented socket designs and the invention of a unique elevated vacuum system, what once was not possible is happening! You can have the benefits of elevated vacuum and do so while being quiet, cosmetic, and low profile! Stop by, or call for more information and a FREE consultation!
